Shape Animation

Goal

The idea here was to give the two shapes some personality. The circle is meant to be extremely fast and energetic since it goes across the screen rapidly. The rectangle is meant to be a counter to this as it moves very slowly across the screen.

  • –  A shape moving along a straight path.
    • When the circle drops from the screen at the beginning of the animation.
  • –  A shape moving along a curved path.
    • The circle follows a curved path when bouncing across the screen.
  • –  A shape rotating around its center.
    • The circle rotates around its center when it is being crushed by the rectangle so it squashes correctly.
  • –  A shape rotating around an external or tangential pivot point.
    • I move the pivot point to the corners of the rectangle for its movement.
  • –  A shape changing its size.
    • The rectangle grows in size to crush the circle.
  • –  A shape changing its opacity.
    • Both the rectangle and circle have their opacity set to zero at the end.
  • –  Shapes expressing 3 of the 12 Principles of Animation (please list these along with link).
    • Squash and stretch through the use of the circle
    • Anticipation since the rectangle grows in size and slowly topples over to show it is going to crush the circle.
    • Slow-in and slow-out applies to the rectangle falling down.
    • I used staging by starting with only the rectangle and having the circle drop into frame to set the scene.
